Truck stops and plazas are convenient, accessible places where drivers of all kinds can stop to rest and get a bite to eat. They are usually located right off an interstate highway. Also called rest areas, truck stops are popular with truckers who are on long-haul jobs. They may entail simple parking lots with restrooms and vending machines, or they may involve fast food diners, restrooms, gas stations, gift shops, and even Internet café. While there, they can also dig into a hearty meal at the nearby café. You’ll often see big rigs, 18-wheelers, travel trailers, and heavy-duty haulers parked at truck stops and plazas. You’ll see cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles as well. Facility operators may or may not be open all night. Many are, but some independent operators and providers still close the main diner or café late at night. Need some coffee for that long ride home? Are the kids craving chips and soda from the store? What about grabbing a brochure for that tourist attraction you intend to see? Head to the nearest truck stop and plaza provider, whether you’re HAZMAT trucker looking for more diesel fuel, or a family looking for restrooms to clean up. An industry popular with many drivers, truck stops and plazas are great places to stock up on food at the store, firm up your transportation plans, meet other people in your party, and fuel up at the gas station.

Conveniently located, generally right off the interstate, they are easy to find simply by driving down the road. However, if you want to plan your trip to ensure you will arrive on time while still taking the necessary breaks, you can search the internet of phone book to map out where the stations are located on the highway with a specific type of facility you require. Trailer providers will often have a certain time a person needs to make a delivery, which is why those that are traveling on the road are in a rush when they're stopping to take a break. Stores and gas stations that are known to have good service in order to let people come in and leave quickly are good to know for when out on the road. Remember what plazas looked nice when you drove by even if you didn't have time to stop just for a future reference.
