Anemometer: An anemometer is a device that is used to measure the speed of the air within a wind turbine.

Controller: A turbine’s controller is the device that tracks the speed of the blades. If the speed goes too high then the controller automatically turns the unit off.

Cut-in Speed: The cut-in speed of a turbine is the minimum velocity the blades must reach in order to produce electricity. This term mostly applies to wind turbines.

Dump Load: Dump loads are installed by manufacturers to ensure turbines do not damage themselves by producing too much electricity. After a turbine’s battery is full all additional electricity that is produced is sent to the dump load for removal.
