Tips on Vineyards
Are you interested in starting your own vineyard? Use these following tips to help get you on your way to successfully owning a vineyard:

Tip #1: Visit local vineyards.
You don’t need to be an agricultural expert to own a vineyard, but do not need to at least have a basic understanding of how a vineyard works before you can even think about owning one. Check into any local vineyards in your area, or in areas where you would like to live. If they offer tours, be sure to take part. You can learn a lot about the operations of a vineyard by visiting with nearby established ones.

Tip #2: Get to know your wines and grapes.
Hopefully, now that you have visited some vineyards, you have a basic understanding of what a vineyard does. You should have also paid attention to what kind of grapes they grew and what kinds of wine they made. Not all grapes grow well in every region. For example, France is known for its fine Burgundy wines that come from the Burgundy region because the grapes grow so well there. The best place to start is to figure out what kinds of wine you want to produce, and then decide which grapes to grow.

Tip #3: Don’t do it all yourself.
Starting out with a new vineyard can be tough, especially since you have to wait for the vines and grapes to develop before the first harvest. However, if you plan it out right from the start, you will only see your future production increase. Therefore, it’s well worth your time to hire an assistant who has worked with vineyards before to help you with starting your own. The knowledge you gain will be invaluable.
