Wine Retail Terms to Know

Wine is an alcoholic beverage made from fruit, usually grapes. It is often sold in retail stores and is used as a popular drink for special occasions, such as weddings and parties. There are also retail stores that specialize in selling wine spirits that will have a greater selection than other stores. Below is a listing of common popular terms that are often found with drinking wines and spirits.

  • Wine Cellar – A place where the wine is stored and left to age. Wineries store wines from a single year or harvest in large wooden casks, similar to how whiskey is stored in an underground cellar where it can age properly.
  • Vintage – Refers to the year the wine was produced and harvested. Because the climate can greatly affect the quality of the wine, some wines of certain vintage fetch considerably higher prices than others. Vintages from excellent years can sometimes also be bought from a wine club.
  • Wine Classifications – A way to label different types of wine. It can be labeled by region, such as Napa Valley or Italian. It can also be labeled by color, such as red, white and rose. Sometimes it is also labeled by grapes, such as Merlot or Chardonnay.
  • Wine Rack – A container for storing bottles of wine. These are often sold at wine stores or through wine clubs. The size of the wine rack depends on the number of bottles it holds.
  • Wine Tasting – Many vineyards will host tasting parties for their wines, and some wine shops will also do the same. This allows for customers to get a taste of different types of wines. Traditionally, many different types of wine are drank with different foods, such as red wines with meat and white wines with fish.

Wine is commonly sold in retail stores, supermarkets, and specialty wine shops all over the world. In fact, wine is an alcoholic beverage that has been around for many centuries. It comes in various shades and flavors, and can be made from fermented grape juice or rice. Both fine white and red wines are sold in numerous regions of the United States, and the price of this alcoholic beverage depends on the type, age, and brand of the wine. When it comes to buying wine, there is a great deal to know beforehand. Some of the different types are Merlot, which is a dark red hue, Chardonnay, which is a white wine, and Pinot Noir, which can be black or white in color. There is also white Zinfandel, which is a sweet beverage that is often white or pink in color. Some other wine types are Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Blanc, sangria, and Pinot Grigio. This alcoholic beverage is typically decanted, which means it is poured from one container to another in order to help blend it. This must be done before it is sold and delivered to retail liquor shops and domestic grocery stores. As you may know, wine is typically served in a specific glass that suits the type of fine beverage. If you need to learn more about rare Pinot Noirs, vintage white wines, and regions where this beverage is made, you may want to surf the web for details. There is plenty of information regarding Chardonnays, sangrias, and fine Cabernets online.
