| Listen I'm gonna laugh when your beautiful pitbull attacks you and tears your face to shreds because that is what is in its nature. It is an aggressive breed Period, that is the way it was bred and that is the behavior it consistently displays. In my area in the past 3 years there have been 7 pitbull attacks and a few were children CHILDREN BABIES this dog is savage it does not have regard for human life these poor babies are now deformed and have a life of misery to face because the owners of these beasts thought like you.Now if that doesn't bother you then you should be banned from society also. Come on now try to compare this breed to a Labrador and you'll lose every time these dog are vicious. If your willing to take the chance then fine go somewhere where your dog is away from harming anymore children but not in society they should be banned. Now try to argue this point the fact is that yes another breed can bite obviously but if I had a choice to get bitten by a pitbull or a Doberman I would chose the Doberman because their jaw does not lock onto something at hundreds of pounds of pressure per square inch and will not let go even if shot in the head. The fact is that if the dog does decide to bite it will be much more severe than any other breed. You say you know your dog your a fool no-one can know what an animal will do they are ANIMALS unpredictable learn that and it may save someone else's life. | If I were simple minded I would not be working on my masters degree at Walden University now would I. My point is that they are bred to be mean, would you say that a mountain lion would be an o.k. Pet for an urban neighborhood if properly trained. No! Just as pitbulls are not compatible in society. And you missed my point if they do bite they can lock on to you and tear you apart, shoot a shepherd in the head while it's biting and guaranteed it WILL let go but pitfalls have been shot dead and still remain doing damage after they are dead. | There is a big difference between a mountain lion and a pitbull terrier.......a mountain lion is a wild animal no matter if they are raised in captivity or not. Now the pitbull for instance is a totally different story..... These dogs are not all mean....its the people who raise them to be mean.......your dog is what you make it........have you ever researched any other breeds of dogs that have bitten humans?.....what about german shepherds? or rotts or cocker spaniels and dalmatians.... Lets use some common sense here..... Dont hate the breed.....hate the people who try to destroy the breed!!!! |

| John you may have what you consider book smarts to get a masters degree but you have no common sense. I have close to 30 dogs a 2 year old and a 19 month old grandchild. I will tell you one thing none of my dogs are aggressive towards anyone in my family. I have a 76 pound male that is in the house with us. All of the bullshit you are reading is lying to you. A dog any breed not just pits are taught to be mean and attack either by abuse or someone neglecting it. Either way, it is not the dog that needs to be blamed or rediculed lets talk about ignorance that people like you believe and go by and them talk out of place. Sounds to me like you need to join PETA or some bullshit organization like that and stay off the subject of pit bulls with true pit bull people who love and respect their breed of dogs. People like John have no knowledge of what they wish they had knowledge on. I can not stand to hear or read people's ignorance on our wonderful breed!!!!!!! I love every single dog I have - they are all just like my children. I just recently lost one of my best dogs to old age. He was only 9 1/2 but before I got him he was tremendously abused, neglected, starved, beat, and everything else you could think of. But I will tell you, he was one of the best dogs I have ever owned or met for that fact. He was the best mannered "man" around my daughter and I never once questioned his love and care for me and my little girl. He protected me and saved my life on more than one occasion. For that I will forever be greatfull to him - I will never forget him. I have his son here now and he is just like his dad. Sorry to ramble I just want people to know these dogs are not the monsters that ignorant people who believe everything they read and spread the lies about my beloved breed. |

I have 3 litters on the ground right now. My puppies are blue with white markings and blue fawn with white markings. I have one male that is white with blue fawn patches. Denmark, Netherlands (Holland), Norway have banned Pit Bulls, France does not allow Pit Bulls in Public Housing and has additional restrictions as muzzling in public and ownership limitations. Britain has outlawed the breeding, importing and selling of American Pit Bull Terriers and has heavy breed restrictions. Germany has declared Pit Bulls as vicious and has special requirements -- see Dog Holocaust links. Pit Bulls are declared vicious in Poland. | Theres plenty of stories on the internet and in magazines all over about people just like you who thought their precious puupy would never hurt them or they're family and now wished they had wised up earlier. They felt just like you, oh it won't happen to my me not my dog well they are damn dangerous and the fact that you put your family at risk does not make sense. Hi my name is Amy I have been reading the conversations here and wanted to express my thoughts I wanted to say a few words here about pitbulls because of all the controversy that goes on with this breed as well as share my thoughts about them.
This is one of my absolute favorite breeds. I like any dog mixed with pitbull. I think they're the cutest, sweetest puppies & gorgeous adults and they seem to be the most loyal and loving dogs that any owner could hope to have. They have a heart of gold. But in all honesty, I pity this breed above all other breeds because of the suffering that they have to endure at the hands of sick, sadistic, less-than-human people because of their build and power. I suppose someone can use any dog breed to fight & put through all kinds of horrifying, cruel processes but pits really seem to catch the worst of it.
I half wish that they would outlaw or ban this breed for the dog's own sake because of all the irresponsible breeders/owners; but I know that it would be bad for responsible owners not to be able to own this wonderful breed. A real catch 22.
I wanted to relay some brief information here that maybe you aren't aware of - the reason I know what I'm sharing here is because it actually happened to me.

July 12, 2003 — A pit bull attack sends two children and their grandfather to the hospital. A neighbor used a shovel to beat the dog back and stop the attack.
Police say that pit bull escaped from a gated area at the dog owner's home. The dog attacked the three in the 4400 block of west Cortez Friday afternoon. The victims were taken to Mount Sinai hospital.
The pit bull went by the name puppy, but his bite has put three members of the same family in the hospital. Witnesses say not once, not twice, but three times they tried to fend off the pit bull, but he just continued his attack.
The all-white pit bull typically stays in his back yard kennel, but Friday afternoon the dog was brought to the front of the house where it squeezed through a fence and attacked a family of three.
"It was terrible, full of blood, all in the face, all in her hair. Her arm was all torn apart. It was just terrible," said neighbor Melvin Ford.
The 10-year-old girl, her brother, and grandfather were all hospitalized. The 10-year-old girl is said to have the most serious injuries.
"She will have to have a skin graft in her arm and leg because there was too much tear in the arm," said Connie Saucedo.

Romeoville girl recovering after attack by pit bull

The 8-year-old Romeoville girl who lost her thumb in a pit bull attack remained in good condition Thursday at Children's Memorial Hospital.
Angelica Osusky, a third-grader at R. C. Hill Elementary School, was visiting an exotic pet collection in her neighbor's basement when the neighbor's pit bull was startled and attacked her, biting her neck and hand.
The dog was shot by Romeoville police and taken to Edward Hospital in Naperville so Angelica's thumb could be removed from the dog's stomach.
Angelica was later taken to Children's Memorial Hospital, where doctors were unable to reattach her thumb, family members said.
While insurance will cover most of the medical bills, the family is looking to set up a fund to pay for a prosthetic thumb, Angelica's sister Maura Amman said.
Bernie Schuberth, the dog's owner, was cited only for not having a village license for the dog.
A hearing has been set for Sept. 8.
The dog's brain tissues are being tested to make sure it did not have rabies, according to Will County animal control officials. |

Detectives search for violent pit bulls

A day later, her voice is still brittle with tension.
Rhonda Radtke is on the phone, describing the attack in tremulous tones. It isn't the injuries that have her frightened, because they're only minor - and the dogs never got their teeth into her legs.
What's still scary, what's kept her from sleeping, is the sound of the screaming and the snapping jaws, the fear of what might have happened.
"It was just like a feeding frenzy," she said. "It was horrible."
Radtke was attacked by pit bulls Sunday as she rode her daughter's horse on the beach at Dog Lake.
The dogs ripped off a stirrup, tore the horse's belly and hindquarters and left Radtke lying stunned on the sand. So far, no one's sure who the dogs belong to or why they attacked.
The dogs disappeared with their owner immediately afterward. Now, Leon County sheriff's detectives are trying to track them down.
Meanwhile, Radtke is caring for an injured 5-year-old gelding named Tico and trying to explain to her daughter what happened.

The dogs involved in the mauling of a girl and her mother in the back yard of a Foothill Drive residence on Thursday are being held in the city’s animal shelter.

LOS BANOS - A 12-year-old girl from Mexico who was staying with relatives here was attacked by two pit bulls Thursday evening.
The girl suffered severe injuries to her legs and arms from bites she received after the dogs escaped from their backyard pen at a residence on the 700 block of Foothill Street and attacked. The girl’s identity was withheld by the Los Banos Police Department due to her age.
The attack occurred at about 5 p.m. In the back yard of the residence of the girl’s aunt, Mercedes Muniz, 55, who also suffered injuries while reportedly attempting to pull one of the dogs off the girl. Police Cmdr. Dan Fitchie said the cause of the attack is unknown.
“That was the worst dog attack I’ve ever seen or known of,” Fitchie said.
The girl was flown to Valley Children’s Hospital in Fresno where she is recovering after reconstructive surgery to her right leg Friday, according to Ana Muniz, the girl’s cousin.

German Woman Attacked By Pit Bulls

Karoline Stallcup was working on a porch in the area of 4th and Emerald Streets when she saw three dogs going after children in a park...so she stepped in, and tried to lured the dogs away...and that is when she was attacked by the three pit bulls. "I had nightmares when I was down on the ground, I couldn't get up."
The nightmare is one Karoline Stallcup cannot put out of her mind after being attacked by three pit bull dogs. Karoline Stallcup, "The bite on the legs and then, on the hands, so I ran." Rosa Lewis heard her cries, and screamed for Karoline to come inside her home. Rosa Lewis/helped Karoline, "They were on her, I was just yelling..get off her." | You are unreal hiding behind this theory of dogs being trained to kill that is such a poor excuse for this dog. They attack children I don't care what hey were taught. Now think for a minute if all of these drug dealers and criminals train these specific dogs to fight and kill there must be a good reason. Because they are natural born killers. You don't see many Labs as killer dogs, or poodles do you? So you really don't care what your dog does as long as it doesn't hurt you right? |

The youngest of four small children left alone at a northeast Houston home was seriously bitten by one of the family's pit bulls Wednesday, police said.
The scalp of Rogelio Montemayor, 3, had been ripped from his forehead to the back of his head, witnesses said. "If I came five or 10 minutes later, he probably would have been dead," said neighbor Roderick Sellers, 33, who pulled the dog off the boy.

I was jogging in my neighborhood when a Rott jumped the fence in his yard and came running towards me barking and snarling. My 10 month old pit bull saw the danger I was in, and came to my rescue. He stood in front of me and refused to be intimidated by his enormous opponent. The Rott did attack my dog, leaving nasty wounds all over his body, but not once did my boy let THAT BEAST touch me. He was willing to put his life on the line for me, someone he loves, and that goes to show that all dogs, even pit bulls, are capable of love. That rott would have killed me if it wasn't for my dog, so once again, SHUT THE HELL UP!!! And you can take that master's degree of yours and shove it up your ass!!! You're not the only person who is intelligent, you want to talk about intelligence, you're acomplishments aren't shit compared to my long ass list!!! |

Firstly, Pit Bulls do not "lock" their jaws. If you had taken a moment to contemplate this you would see that this is impossibe. What animal would lock it's jaws. I mean, what purpose would this even serve in nature? How would this even be acheived and then undone once accomplished? Pit Bulls merely have tremendous force per square inch of biting area and that is why the ignorant have claimed, with an amusing degree of certainty and authority, that Pits do lock their jaws. Secondly, if you had bothered to investigate the dog attacks recorded in any area that of dog attacks a very small number are from Pit Bulls and in fact a large number come from breeds like Cocker Spaniels, Dalmations and, yes even the breed you championed, Labrador Retreivers and any one of these breeds will outnumber Pit Bulls in terms of number of attacks they just do not receive as much bad press because it is not as sensational as Newspapers would like since no one is afraid of a toy breed or companion breed. I work at the humane society of the willamette valley, we have tons of pitbull mixes, plus purebreeds that come through the door and there has not been one put to sleep for aggression since I have been working there (nearly 3 years now). They are used for dog fights because people needed a dog that was easily handled by humans without being aggressive but they needed a dog who could still be viscious to another dog... They are the best family dogs in the world, the only way that they're gonna be aggressive towards anything is if you're a stupid moron who doesn't know shit about how to own your dogs. My best friend and her pitt bull mix moved into our home about 8 months ago and in that time her dog has bitten four people myself,my son the dogs owner and her boyfriend.
He seems to prefer our heads. The dog was not raised to be vicious nor has he been mistreated or neglected in our home.
So John if your still out there we are seeking euthanasia for the dog who is 8 yrs old and its not going to be easy because he can be very nice but not a dog I can trust around my child. I hope the rest of you dont have to learn the hard way . Kim |

| Michael, I completely agree with you. And speaking of other dog breeds, a lab, yes the "#1 loyal loving family pet" attacked a toddler for no apparent reason. As far as anyone can tell the dog was not prevoked in any way. The story made headlines over in my area due to the amount of injury the child received and the dog had to be put down. I have owned all kinds of dogs including labs and like Michael said, any dog is capable of an attack no matter what the breed. Pits have a very unfair reputation and are constantly punished for simply being born into a world where so many close minded people immediately think the worst of them. Many loyal dogs have gotten recognition for in some way helping or even saving the life of someone they care about, but when a pit shows the same courage, no one ever hears about it. And if they do, people show no gratitude because of the dog's breed. I treat my male brindle like my son. I love him unconditionally and he has proves his love and dedication daily. As a matter of fact if you read the postings from last year on the board, you can see that he has even saved my life by almost giving his. I hope more people can agree with me and give our beloved breed some well deserved credit. |
