| I don't think you have the right to slander a dog because of its colouring. They are just animals brought here because of someone else's fetish for white. But that doesn't mean they don't deserve love, care and respect as a beautiful animal which they undeniably are. I own a "white german shepard" and everytime i look at her i feel nothing but love. She has an excellent temperament, even with children and is a wonderful guard dog. I call her my angel because the whiteness of her coat makes her glow as such. Have you ever owned this type of dog? if you haven't then don't think you are an authority on it. |

I have a beautiful white german shepard and I have not had any problems what-so-ever!!!!!
And to who said they are not real germans... Do your homework mabie this Pam's aren't but mine is registered by the akc with a purebred pedigree.......... Many people love dogs that are not considered by the akc as "Show Quality" |

| My husband and I have a female and male white german shepard. Both of us have had several dogs in our life and we both believe these two dogs are the best dogs we have ever had. They are VERY loyal, protective and the most loving and affectionate dogs. I am currently pregnant and our male is SO protective of me right now. He smells my stomach and I know he can sense our little miracle. I am sadden that many people think they are not "real" german shepards. Our dogs love to swim, in fact when we are in the water they try to drag us to the boat or to shore. They are so PROTECTIVE. I know several people that have the black and tan german shepards and we laugh and compare stories about how their dog and ours are so much alike. Own one before you slander it! | You have no right to say that White German Shepards are not truely German Shepards. That is not true at all. I have an 8 year old White German Shepard and he is the best dog. Not once have we had a temperman problem with him. He is the most loving caring and protective dog there is. It's just like you being discrimative against African Americans. Just because they are white doesnt mean they are any different from the "normal" looking German Shepard, and just because African Americans have different color skin doesnt mean they are any different from white americans. I'd think that over a few times before you speak again saying that they are not "real" German Shepards. They are woderful dogs! |

| I own 2 white German Shepard dogs, and they are the best dogs i've ever owned. I don't care if I can't show the dogs, or if other people think they're not real German Shepards. The bottom line is they're my dogs, I prefer the white color, nobody else is taking care of these dogs expect for myself. If you have nothing better to do with your time but criticize a persons preference in dog coloration, your definitely in serious need of social interaction with the opposite sex. If you haven't realized it by now, there are many other topics in this world to worry about, that have nothing to do with white dogs. Get a life and quit saturating these message boards with ignorant nonsense. |

HA...HA...HA... I see what you mean....Evidently, these people have nothing better to do with their time...... For the people out their who are looking to purchase a White German Shepherd or a Black & Tan or A solid Black...The coloring makes absolutely no difference in Temperment, health, and loyalty that the German Shepherd Dog is known around the world for portraying. Since I have personally seen and owned many of Colleen's Dogs over the past 19 years and have shown in the ring, ****These dogs have all been Exceptional***** Not only for their Intelligence and Beauty, But their loyalty.....The true Traits of QUALITY GERMAN SHEPHERDS.........I wouldn't Trust any of the people who post on here with Negative comments and Nasty words.....The Truth Speaks For Its Self.......SEE YA...............Leisa |

I am new, not only to this message board, but also to the world of owning a dog. I am just beginning to seek the right dog for my family with young children and came across a dog - that was so unusual in color, I couldn't believe it was a German Shepard. The White GSD struck me as not only being beautiful, but in the short time alone with it, he was quite playful and never bit considering he's 10 weeks. I saw this dog in (I think what's called) a puppy mill. It was a pet shop and this dog shared a cage with another dog of a completely different breed. What are my chances of getting a perfectly healthy dog from this environment? 50-50? Also, they were asking $900 for the WGSD. Is this reasonable? Expensive? Expertise opinions greatly welcomed.
Oh, by the way, upon purchasing a book on GSD's and learning more about them, I would be proud to own a White one. Except for its "magical" color, there is no difference in obediance training, companionship, or loyalty than any other color of its breed. |

Thank you both so very much for the info you provided. I have taken serious notes from both your messages and have been doing lots of homework on the net. We are a family from LI, NY looking for a good family dog. I am not looking to breed or show, so I would of course be responsible to have any dog we adopt "fixed". The WGSD caught my eye. Thanks to your suggestions my search continues to shelters as well as reputable breeders.

| All german shepards are the same; they are all very intelligent and strong and loyal. Who gives a shit about the color? And to the person who is probably like 50 and needs to GROW UP, you can quit slandering the whites because they also serve and protect as police K9 units. |

| I am 46 yrs. Old. Since i were 5 yrs. Old, i have never lived more than a yr. Without a german shepard, with the exception of a yr. Or 2 in college, when i lived in dormitories. I absolutely love the breed of dog! i researched breeders, i spent alot of money on GSD's. They all seemed 2 have medical problems! my last dog had such severe allergies, that we spent $150.00/mo. 4 allergy medications, which my husband & i gave him for 4 yrs. He died @ 5yrs. Old. That was when i finally decided to try a white shepard. Because i never had a shepard live longer than 7 yrs. Hemangiosarcoma. Food allergies, liver problems, debilatating hip dysplasias, & every problem in the book. I even had 1 shipped from germany. It doesnt matter, the "registered german shepard as been so overbread, that as wonderful companions, which they are, they have serious health issues. I even had the flint diet dog food shipped in for my last dog. He had all the allergies. They were all the most loyal dogs, i have all their urns, pictures, & collars. THEN. I bought my white german shepard! NO health problems. The smartest dog i have ever had. The most loving dog i have ever had. He is great with my daughter & all her friends. He is very protective, but smart about it. He would not let my lawn service or pool service in my yard for about a yr. But after they earned his trust, he now lets them in the yard, but he watches them. The white german shepard deserves a class of his own! he i |

| So what's all this BS about White German Shepherds. Owning a White German Shepherd is like the saying "It Don't Get No Better Than This". I have owned 2, a male (30 years ago) and a female which is now going on 13 years old and she is still a puppy. She is great with kids and loves the ocean. Every time that I take her to the beach everyone just goes crazy to play with her. They can't get over how white she is and how good she is with childern. The only problem that I have with her is that we let her stay in the house and she sheds, ALOT. Oh, if we are not at home, don't even think about coming inside, it's her house too. |

| I forgot to add this true story.You want to talk about impressive, back in 1996 after Hurricane Fran the FEMA Search and Rescue Teams came to our area to help search for missing people. You should have seen all those White German Shepherds and the job that they were doing. Yes, I know that they had other dogs too, but none were as impressive as the White German Shepherds. These are the folks that travel all over the world to help find lost and missing people. |

| A year ago this January 14, I lost my beloved companion, WGSD, Mal. He & I met by chance. I lost my GSD and this litter of white shepards were recommended to me by my vet. There was no money exchanged. The wonderful breeders, owners of both his parents (both white), just wanted good homes. Mal was registered by AKC as Mahlon's Silver Star. He was a 120lb. And like his father, loved children,cats, horses, etc. If a stranger entered my house, he looked to me. My acknowledgement signaled him to go fetch a toy so he could play with the new person. I had over 10 years of bliss with Mal. Everyone loved him and all were impressed with his conformational correctness. One morning almost a year ago, we awoke as usual, but an hour later Mal was gone. Autopsy showed Cardiac Tamponade. A small growth on his heart leaked blood and he died in my arms. I will never get over that morning or my beloved friend. I have to wonder if the parents of the little boy Mal saved from drowning in 1994 knew that he might have been culled by another breeder at birth what they would say knowing this great hearted dog would never have been here nor would their son have ever reached maturity. |

| Colleen, just when you think that you went through the worst possible thing, you shared your tragedy and loss of your dog. I'm so sorry. I do know how you feel and I for one haven't had one day without that memory or sorrow for the emptiness in my house. You know, I just don't understand this color thing. There is too much prejudice in our world. We hate people for their color, horses in the show ring of certain colors are frowned upon and now dogs. When will it end? A good dog is a good dog no matter what the color or breed. I've had dogs my whole life. I'm 56. Most were shepards(black and tan) and some were mixed breeds. All of them have a place in my heart; but, quite honestly, they weren't Mal. |

I have a gorgeous 2 year old white german shepherd male and he's been my first dog. He is adorable, and is a darling of the entire neighborhood where there are many other breeds of so-called 'qualified' dogs. Also, he is AKC registered, and has won prizes at obidient school.
He is the most social and well-mannered dog even in dog parks, all without too much time from us. I really think no one has the right to say any bad against a type unless it comes from their own experience. |

| Hi. I really dont think you have the right to diss the white german shepherds. We raise german shepherds and our white female is the best dog we have ever had. We paid extra for her because the guy we had come out told us that she was show quality. There is NO reason why they should be treated any differebnt. If you want my opinion, i prefer tyhe white color over the naturals. They are more valuble. I agree with people like luke on this one. |

| The white german shepard comes from your standard german shepard. They get the white color from a recessive gene that lies within the german shepard dog genetics. |

Hello,
I have a beautiful male, neutered, white german shepard dog named Fritz in need of a new home. He will be two years old in fall(OCT,2005). He has papers but we never felt the need to send them in and get him registered.
If anyone lives in or around Wisconsin area and is interested please let me know. He is used to country living and not being hooked up but he does well in a chain also. He does not sleep outside at night but loves being outside most of the time. He does excellent with children and with my 3 1/2 year old little girl. |

Being saved by a white guardian angle.woof...! how could you miss this beautiful creature creeping up on you as you decide to go to the next house.
