Drafting services specialize in using architectural and engineering schematics to create detailed plans, illustrations and drawings of structures, buildings, systems and machines. Architectural firms, engineering firms, scientific firms and inventors often hire drafting firms to do drafting work for them. Drafting firms now use CAD, AUTOCAD and other computer programs to do most of their work on computers. Some work is still done at most drafting firms on drafting tables using drafting tools. Some drafting firms specialize in either architectural drafting; geological drafting; landscape architectural drafting; or in creating formal trademark and patent drawings. Other drafting firms specialize in drafting for either mechanical engineering firms; environmental engineering firms; civil engineering firms; or structural engineering firms.
