When evaluating bands to hire for your wedding, party or other event, there are various criteria that you will want to consider. You may first want to check with your venue for any noise or space restrictions. Ask the manager what size band has worked best in the past. Once you have found bands in your area, listen to tapes, watch videos, or if possible, go listen to the band play. Note how the musicians interact with the audience and the variety of music they play. Tell the bands what type of music you want played, such as swing and jazz. Ask to see their playlist and note any songs you definitely want played and those you want nixed. Many musicians prefer to play in an ensemble. There are many types of ensembles that musicians can join. These groups will often play different styles of songs.
